What is UNITY?
UNITY will help us understand the lives and experiences of Black men, our risks, attitudes, the prejudices we face, our strengths and how these factors impact our health, specifically, our risk for HIV.
The UNITY Team is part of the HIV Research Section in the AIDS Office of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. The HIV Research Section’s mission is to work with and learn from communities in order to conduct research that will have the greatest impact on the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
The HIV Research Section is part of the National Institutes of Health's HIV Prevention Trials Network, a global network of researchers working to find new ways to fight HIV. UNITY is part of a nation-wide study, the first ever focusing on Black men.
